Cinder Cone Off Grid Tree Houses – Keep dreams alive

The Cinder Cone is more than a place, though I’m not exactly sure how to describe it. It seems to be the center, where multiple interests collide for a very talented soul. Started by Foster Hunting, who’s an amazing photographer and author of photo book called  A Restless Transplant. The cone an amazing place from my perspective. It seems to be the gathering place for talented builders, friends, travelers, skaters and stoke seekers and hey… it’s in my home state of Washington.

Many would say that Foster coined the hashtag #VANLIFE a few years ago and has popularized the adventure vehicle for millions of jealous desk jockeys like myself. The prices of 4wd vans will never be the same! They’ve been overpriced ever since. 🙁 Used Toyota pickups always have been I guess but I digress… I’ve been following it for years a just realized I’ve never shared. Ya it’s off grid but so’s the Walmart parking lot, this a more than that.

This post could get long but check out his amazing photos at his Cinder Cone Tumblr blog and follow the adventure as they build cement skate bowls, tree houses, wood fired hot tubs and keep the dream alive.

I left my job in New York in the summer of 2011 and moved into a camper. Since then, I have driven 100,000 miles around the west, surfing and camping. During the summer of 2014, I set up a home base in the Columbia River Gorge. These are some of my stories and photos. – Foster Hunting
